Astrid Emde is an active member of OSGeo and the current OSGeo Secretary. She served on the OSGeo Board of Directors from 2017 to 2021. Astrid is an active member of FOSSGIS e.V., the German-language Local Chapter of OSGeo, and part of the team that organizes the annual FOSSGIS conference.

An open source geospatial expert, she works as a GIS Consultant at WhereGroup in Bonn, Germany. She contributes to the Mapbender and OSGeoLive teams. In 2018, Astrid received the Sol Katz Award at the FOSS4G conference in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
