Alessandro Sarretta is a researcher at the National Research Council (CNR) within the Research Institute for Geo‑hydrological Protection in Padua, previously at the Institute of Marine Sciences in Venice. He works in the marine / coastal field and now in the geomorphology domain on the management and processing of environmental data, spatial data infrastructures, the implementation of decision‑support systems, as well as research‑data standards and interoperability. He is interested in and involved in various aspects of openness, ranging from open‑source software, open science, open knowledge, and participatory mapping.
